Our March Challenge is a bit more involved than the February Challenge. I hope you find it worth trying. The goal is to complete as many of the 10 items posted below in the month of March. It’s all about trying new things; breaking out of the winter rut and doldrums; and encouraging others to get their fitness on. I'm looking forward to seeing which Fitter can get to all ten FIRST! :)
Please post to Facebook and/ or Website when you accomplish any of the items below. Your post could inspire someone else to get involved.
It is acceptable to combine up to TWO items at the same time. For example your new buddy (#2) could also satisfy the couch potato activity (#5). If you and that same new couch potato buddy walked somewhere new (#4) you’d have to choose which TWO you want credit for on that outing.
1. Try a new form of exercise or sport
This is your chance to try that exercise or sport you said you were always going to try. Be creative here. You can try curling or a zumba class or anything in between. As long as it’s something you’ve never done before.
2. Run, walk or bike with a new buddy
This does not have to be a total stranger; just someone you have not worked out with before. Show up for one of our off season meetings and if there is someone there you never ran or walked with before - that counts!
3. Run, walk or bike at least 4 days this month during at least half your lunch period
Just 4 days in the whole month. Surely you can do that!
4. Run or walk somewhere new
Give up the same old routes one day for somewhere new.
5. Motivate a couch potato to walk, run or bike with you at least once
A chance to pay the benefits of exercise forward.
6. Cheer for total strangers at a race or other amateur sporting event in the month of March (note: this should be an event you are not also participating in but it can be an event at which you are volunteering or just watching)
7. Run or walk technology free at least once; no electronic gadgets of any kind
It’s not as scary as it sounds. You’ll be surprised. Combine this with #2, #5 or #8 and you’ll likely not miss your ‘stuff’.
8. Take a child (age 6-13) on a run, walk, or bike ride.
Have fun with this one and don’t forget to ask before taking the child. :) No kidnapping!
9. Share your favorite fitness tip on our Facebook page or website discussion board
What’s that thing that makes so much sense to you or has really worked for you. Share it. Would love to get a good list going from this one.
10. Blog about one of the above (1-8) at your own blog* or at usafitphilly.blogspot.com**
* post a link to your own blog on our FB page when complete
** message me for author rights to post to our blog; it’s free and simple
